If you know people who are big believers of astrology, you know the kind of people who like blaming planets or 'stars' for their fate rather than take ownership of the role they play in their own life. The book chooses to interpret it as how people like to blame bigger forces for their lot in life but faults are in the individuals. In Act 1, Scene 2 of Shakespeare's play 'Julius Caesar', Cassius says to Brutus, "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, / But in ourselves, that we are underlings." ![]() Similarly, people in bad situations will want something to blame and that tendency is best explained in the title and the quote it's referencing. Studies have found that on winning, people will credit themselves on losing blame an external factor. ![]() It's a fact that humans like to externalise blame.
